A Man Of No Importance

Jonathan's debut role was in the 1994 film "A Man Of No Importance". Written by Barry Devlin and released in February 1995. Jonathan was cast as "First Young Man" (which was also his title in the films credits).

The film is a comedy/drama starring Albert Finney, Brenda Fricker and Michael Gambon and is about Alfie Byrne (Albert Finney), a gay middle aged bus driver in Dublin in 1963. No-one knows that Alfie is gay and his sister, Lily (Brenda Fricker) is constantly trying to find the "right girl" for him. The film deals with his struggle, temptation, and friendships, and how they are affected by his homosexuality.

Jonathan has a very small role in this film.

The film was also made into a musical which ran from September 12 to December 29, 2002 in the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater, New York and was part of the Lincoln Center Theater 2002-03 season. It was awarded the 2003 Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Off-Broadway Musical.
